Just a Saturday morning programming note:
TrackFocus will stay on top of several events today and report results from the Husky Classic indoor meet in Seattle, the U.S. cross country championships in Spokane, and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Coming up this morning are heats of the 60 meters, featuring a couple of football All-Americans (LMJ and James Rodgers).
Friday night in Seattle, an Oregon Track Club Elite quartet of Nick Symmonds, Matt Scherer, Tyler Mulder and Will Leer ran an new U.S. all-time best of 9 minutes, 25.77 seconds in the distance medley relay. You can read Ken Goe’s first-hand account here. Molly Blue’s video for Oregonlive is here.
And Oregon senior Nicole Blood posted the fast collegiate 5,000 of the season, clocking 15:51.
In Spokane, Dathan Ritzenhein will attempt win the U.S. cross country championships and qualify for the world championships in Poland. I had an opportunity to see Ritz workout last month — he was doing mile repeats — and he looked sharp.
It should be a good day of racing in Spokane. I received a weather report from Gonzaga coach Pat Tyson this morning.
“It’s like a late October, early November morning, with a little frost on the ground. A perfect day for cross country in Spokane, Washington,” Tyson said.
Video of Tyson interviewing Ritz on the stage can be found here.
Please stay tuned and thanks for visiting our new little web site this week.
