NCAA Championships: Jordan Hasay, Alex Kosinski of Oregon onto Women’s 1500m finalPublished by
In the women’s 1500 meter semifinal, it was two in and one left out for the Ducks of Oregon. Freshman Jordan Hasay and junior Alex Kosinski are onto Saturday’s final, while teammate Zoe Buckman finished sixth in her heat and failed to advance. The first semifinal heat was swift from the gun and saw seven competitors run faster than 4:17. While the second heat was more of a sit and kick affair with Villanova’s Shelia Reid earned the final automatic qualifying spot by running 4:18.34. After the race, Hasay and Kosinksi were in high spirits having made the final. ”I just wanted to qualify. I’m really excited. I was trying to keep it low-key and not get too nervous,” explained Hasay. ”I’ve been getting pretty nervous lately. I try to keep telling myself ‘You’re just a freshman…take the opportunity.’ So I did that.” Kosinski’s time in the semifinal was a three second PR. This successful outdoor season has also seen her set a PR in the 5000 meters. These improvements come after missing the entire indoor season with an Achilles tendon injury. She credits her improved strength and stamina to her pool running rehab. ”I was up every morning at 6am before going to class…and now it’s really paid off.” Women 1500 Meter Run ================================================================ 2 Heats.
